SMS Terms & Conditions

This document describes the SMS messaging program operated by CollegeSeats ("we," "us," or "our"). By providing your mobile phone number and opting in to receive SMS messages from CollegeSeats, you agree to these SMS Terms & Conditions.
1. Program Description
CollegeSeats offers an SMS messaging program to provide you with important account and transaction-related notifications. Our SMS program includes:
- Account Verification: One-time passwords (OTP) to verify your identity during account registration and login
- Order Confirmations: Notifications when your ticket purchase is confirmed
- Ticket Transfer Updates: Alerts when your tickets have been transferred to your account
- Important Account Alerts: Security notifications and critical account updates
- Event Reminders: Optional reminders about upcoming events you have tickets for
2. How to Opt-In (Consent Collection)
You may opt-in to receive SMS messages from CollegeSeats through the following methods:
Mobile App Registration
When you create an account on the CollegeSeats mobile app, you will be asked to provide your mobile phone number. During this process, you will see a consent checkbox with the following language:
"I agree to receive SMS messages from CollegeSeats for account verification, order updates, and important notifications. Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency varies. Reply STOP to unsubscribe at any time."
By checking this box and submitting your phone number, you expressly consent to receive SMS messages from CollegeSeats.
Website Registration
When registering on our website, you will see a similar consent checkbox before submitting your phone number.
Checkout Process
During the ticket checkout process, you may be asked to provide or confirm your phone number for order notifications. Consent language will be displayed before you complete your purchase.
3. Message Frequency
The number of SMS messages you receive will vary based on your account activity:
- Account Verification (OTP): 1 message per login attempt or verification request
- Order Confirmations: 1-2 messages per transaction
- Ticket Transfer Updates: 1-2 messages per ticket transfer
- Security Alerts: As needed for account security (typically rare)
- Event Reminders: Up to 2 messages per upcoming event (if enabled)
On average, active users may receive approximately 2-10 messages per month, depending on their transaction activity. You will never receive more than 20 messages per month from our SMS program.
4. Message and Data Rates
Message and data rates may apply. Standard messaging rates from your wireless carrier will apply to all SMS messages sent and received. CollegeSeats does not charge for SMS messages, but your carrier may charge you according to your mobile plan. Please contact your wireless carrier for details about your messaging plan.
5. How to Opt-Out
You may opt out of receiving SMS messages from CollegeSeats at any time using any of the following methods:
Reply STOP
Simply reply STOP to any SMS message you receive from CollegeSeats. You will receive a confirmation message acknowledging your opt-out request, and you will no longer receive SMS messages from us.
Account Settings
Log in to your CollegeSeats account and navigate to Settings > Notifications > SMS Notifications. Toggle off SMS notifications to opt out.
Contact Support
Email us at support@collegeseats.com with the subject line "SMS Opt-Out" and include your phone number. We will process your request within 24 hours.
Note: If you opt out of SMS messages, you may still receive essential account verification codes if you choose to use SMS-based two-factor authentication. To fully disable SMS verification, you can switch to email-based verification in your account settings.

7. Supported Carriers
Our SMS program is supported by all major U.S. wireless carriers, including but not limited to:

- Verizon Wireless
- T-Mobile
- Sprint
- U.S. Cellular
- Cricket Wireless
- Metro by T-Mobile
- Boost Mobile
- Virgin Mobile
- And most regional carriers
Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
8. Privacy and Data Protection
Your phone number and SMS communications are protected in accordance with our Privacy Policy. We will:
- Never sell your phone number to third parties
- Never share your phone number for marketing purposes with third parties
- Only use your phone number for the purposes described in this document
- Securely store your phone number using industry-standard encryption
We may share your phone number with our SMS service provider (Twilio) solely for the purpose of delivering messages to you. Our service providers are contractually obligated to protect your information.
9. Content of Messages
SMS messages from CollegeSeats will typically include:
- Verification codes (6-digit OTP codes)
- Order confirmation numbers and brief transaction details
- Ticket transfer status updates
- Event date, time, and venue reminders
- Important security alerts
We will never ask you to provide sensitive information such as passwords, credit card numbers, or Social Security numbers via SMS. If you receive a suspicious message claiming to be from CollegeSeats, please contact us immediately at support@collegeseats.com.
10. Eligibility
To participate in our SMS program, you must:
- Be at least 18 years old (or have parental consent)
- Have a valid mobile phone number with SMS capabilities
- Have a mobile phone capable of receiving SMS messages
- Be a resident of the United States
- Accept these SMS Terms & Conditions
11. Changes to SMS Terms
We may update these SMS Terms & Conditions from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by:
- Sending an SMS notification about the changes
- Posting the updated terms on our website
- Sending an email to your registered email address
Your continued participation in our SMS program after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms.
12. Disclaimer
CollegeSeats is not responsible for:
- Delayed or undelivered messages due to carrier issues or network problems
- Charges from your wireless carrier for receiving SMS messages
- Technical malfunctions of wireless networks, devices, or software
- Actions taken by you based on SMS messages
