PRIVACY POLICY
Last Updated: September 13, 2026
At CollegeSeats, we take your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our website, mobile application, and services (collectively, the "Service"). Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. By using the Service, you consent to the practices described in this policy.
1. Information We Collect
We collect information that you provide directly to us, information collected automatically, and information from third-party sources.
Information You Provide
- Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, phone number, and password
- Payment Information: When you make a purchase, we collect payment card information, billing address, and transaction details. Payment processing is handled by our secure third-party payment processor
- Profile Information: Any additional information you choose to add to your profile, such as preferences or favorite teams
- Communications: Information you provide when you contact our customer support or respond to surveys
Information Collected Automatically
- Device Information: Device type, operating system, mobile network information, and device identifiers. This includes an identifier we assign to your device and platform-provided device signals, which we use to recognize a device across sessions. Including, in some cases, after the app is reinstalled
- Usage Information: Pages viewed, features used, search queries, browsing history within our Service, and time spent on pages
- Location Information: General location based on IP address, and with your consent, precise location from your mobile device
- Cookies and Tracking Technologies: We use cookies, web beacons, and similar technologies to collect information about your interactions with our Service
Information from Third Parties
- Sign-In Services: If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive basic account information from that service, such as your name and email address
- Analytics: Our product analytics are our own, and we do not receive information about you from third-party analytics providers. We do send Google a signal when an account is created, for advertising measurement only, as described in Section 7
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
- Provide Services: To process transactions, deliver tickets, and provide customer support
- Personalization: To personalize your experience, including showing relevant events and recommendations
- Communication: To send you transactional messages, service updates, and promotional communications (with your consent)
- Security: To detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, and security issues. This includes using device identifiers and payment signals to recognize devices and payment methods associated with prior fraud or abuse (such as reservation abuse or repeated chargebacks) and to enforce reservation and purchase limits, as permitted by law as part of our legitimate interest in protecting the Service
- Analytics: To analyze usage patterns and improve our Service
- Legal Compliance: To comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service
- Marketing: To send you promotional emails you have opted into. We do not currently use third-party advertising networks
3. Information Sharing
We may share your information in the following circumstances:
- Service Providers: We share information with vendors and service providers who perform services on our behalf, such as payment processing, email delivery, customer support, and error monitoring. Our error monitoring provider receives diagnostic information when something breaks (the error, the page it happened on, and your browser and device type) so we can fix it. Credentials in links, such as a verification or password reset token, are stripped before the report is sent
- Event Organizers: We may share buyer information with event organizers or venues as required for ticket fulfillment
- Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, regulation, legal process, or government request
- Protection of Rights: We may share information to protect the rights, property, and safety of CollegeSeats, our users, or others
- Business Transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred to the acquiring entity
- With Your Consent: We may share information with third parties when you give us explicit consent to do so
We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
4. Data Security
We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. These measures include:
- Encryption of data in transit and at rest
- Regular security assessments and penetration testing
- Access controls and authentication measures
- Employee training on data protection
- Secure payment processing through PCI-compliant providers
However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
5. Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, including to satisfy legal, accounting, or reporting requirements. The retention period may vary depending on the context and our legal obligations.
When we no longer need your personal information, we will securely delete or anonymize it in accordance with applicable laws and our data retention policies.
After you delete your account, we may retain de-identified records and, for accounts under enforcement action, hashed (HMAC) versions of contact identifiers such as your phone number and email address. These hashed values are used only to prevent banned users from re-registering and for fraud prevention, as permitted by law.
6. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on your location, you may have certain rights regarding your personal information:
- Access: You can request a copy of the personal information we hold about you
- Correction: You can request that we correct inaccurate or incomplete personal information
- Deletion: You can request that we delete your personal information, subject to certain exceptions
- Portability: You can request a copy of your data in a structured, commonly used format
- Opt-Out: You can opt out of marketing communications at any time by clicking the "unsubscribe" link in our emails or updating your account settings
- Do Not Sell: California residents have the right to opt out of the "sale" of personal information (though we do not sell personal information)
To exercise these rights, please contact us at support@collegeseats.com. We will respond to your request within the timeframe required by applicable law.
7. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
We set first-party cookies that are essential to signing you in and keeping your session secure: sealed session cookies, a CSRF token, and a signed-in indicator.
We also use Google Ads conversion measurement: when you create an account, we tell Google a signup happened, so we can see which ads work. It uses Google’s cookies. We send no name, email address, or phone number, and ad personalization is switched off. To opt out, use your browser settings or Google’s Ads Settings.
We use Meta (Facebook) conversion measurement in the same way and for the same reason: when you create an account, we tell Meta a signup happened, so we can see which ads work. It uses Meta’s cookies. We send no name, email address, phone number, or any purchase or payment information. To opt out, use your browser settings or Meta’s Ad Preferences.
Our own cookies are a different matter: because they are what keep you signed in, blocking them may prevent you from signing in or using parts of the Service.
8. Children’s Privacy
Our Service is intended for users 18 years of age and older, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will delete that information immediately, as required by the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). If you believe we may have collected information from anyone under 18, please contact us at support@collegeseats.com.
9. International Data Transfers
Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your country of residence. These countries may have data protection laws that are different from the laws of your country. We take appropriate safeguards to ensure that your personal information remains protected in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
10. California Privacy Rights
If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CCPA/CPRA):
- The right to know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose
- The right to correct inaccurate personal information
- The right to request deletion of your personal information
- The right to limit the use of sensitive personal information
- The right to opt out of the sale of personal information and of the sharing of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising
- The right to non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights
We do not sell or share your personal information as those terms are defined by the CCPA/CPRA, and we have not done so in the preceding 12 months.
To exercise these rights, please contact us at support@collegeseats.com. Requests may be submitted by email or through a support ticket, and an authorized agent may submit requests on your behalf.
Other US State Privacy Rights
If you are a resident of another state with a comprehensive privacy law (for example Texas, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Oregon, or Montana), you have similar rights to access, correct, delete, and port your data and to opt out of targeted advertising. We honor these rights through the same contact channels described above.
11. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or by posting a prominent notice on our Service prior to the changes becoming effective. Material changes are versioned, and where required we will present the revised policy for your renewed consent. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically for the latest information about our privacy practices.
